Welcome to the Club!

Hi there! Welcome to the Bad Ideas Book Club. We are three English majors with some really bad ideas. Except now with a podcast.

If you're an English major, a bookworm, or just really love listening to occasionally funny twenty-year-olds fangirl over authors who have been dead for hundreds of years, then this is the place for you. On this blog and podcast, we hope to share our love for all things bookish by creating content that discusses literature, writing in a fun and fresh way. We believe that pop culture and literature should not be separated from one another, that you can be a die-hard Taylor Swift fan and still have a passion for intellectual, critical discussion about literary canon.

To be honest, talk around the town about literature can be a little pretentious and stuffy. We hope to change this. Literature should be fun, accessible, and relatable. Bad Ideas Book Club is a place where you can let go of your fear of not being smart or eloquent enough and let your bad ideas reign free!

Here's some of what you can expect from us

  • Weekly podcasts about our favorite authors and topics in the world of literature...but with a pop culture twist! This is where our "bad" ideas come in, like how Paradise Lost is basically Bible fan-fiction...tune in to find out why!
  • Blog posts and think pieces with wit and energy on all your favorite literary subjects...and also a lot of Shakespeare memes scattered throughout.
  • A book club! Yes, we do actually have a book club! We are currently reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. Check out our podcast and blog post check-ins to hear our thoughts on this amazing novel! (we also have a schedule posted so you can read along with us!)

Sound intriguing? Join the club and get lit(erature) with us!
